Dr. Gil Smith, Director of Recovery Ministries

Dr. Gil Smith knows personally the grave affliction of addiction;  now, 7 years in recovery after more than 30 years of substance abuse and chemical dependency.  In December, 2000, Gil surrendered his ministerial credentials and entered residential treatment.  His previous life devastated by addictions and addictive behavior, he understands the physical, emotional, physical, and spiritual brokeness that is so often part of this disease.  Today, his life work is to share a message of hope and grace to those who still suffer, a message of God's Love and His redeeming Power to transform the last, the lost and the least.

Dr. Steve Sallee, Senior Pastor, Cokesbury UMC

Dr. Steve Sallee is the Senior Pastor at Cokesbury UMC. His passion for loving people has been the key to the development of many of the outreach ministries supported by his church. His enthusiasm for the advancement of faith in our community is surpassed only by his willingness to "get involved" and make something positive happen. Celebrate Recovery would not exist at Cokesbury today had Dr. Sallee not become one of its major supporters.
